Falling...

Sunday, November 6, 2011

All the adults were at the table, after meal, while MM is out of sight, playing on his own. Then, we heard a loud cry.

Yaya, being the nearest, was the first to rush to him. MM was really crying very hard. His face was all red, his mouth open from the earnest crying. And on his right forehead, a huge dent.

Oh no!!

We didn't really see what happened, but we saw the slippers lying around and thought he must've tripped over them and fell. Or he lost his balance and fell, no fault of the slippers. I remember MM knew to avoid slippers. I've watched him navigate around obstacles to get to where he's going. So, to say he tripped on the slippers might not be as accurate.

Anyway, that doesn't matter. Accidents happen. The deed was done. The important thing right then was to determine that MM is ok.

He fought the hands that were placing the ice on his bump. I read later on the Internet that that was a good sign. Crying was also a good sign.

I helped held down his hands while they placed the ice on him. He stopped crying when they gave him the ice. He wants to do it himself. (Very independent kid.) MM only!

G was frantic. A bump on the head is no joke. He wants to go see a pediatrician, but there were no pediatricians on a Sunday. Finally, they sent an sms to MM's pedia, while we also researched on the Internet for guidance.

Later (a half hour maybe?), MM was happily playing with his favorite Uncle H.

Our fears were put to rest. The pediatrician said as long as MM is alert and happy, he should be fine. The Internet research we did seemed to agree too, but for safety's sake, G put MM on a twenty-four hour observation, even waking in the night to check if MM is ok.

Except for the slight bump on the left forehead (the dent swelled to become a bump), MM is ok now. And the bump would vanish in a matter of time.
